Welcome to Road Transport Images

We produce the largest range available of british commercial vehicles in 4mm/1:76th scale models, all cast in easy to handle resin: from a 1930 fordson aa up to a 2007 daf cf, with over 120 cabs introduced since 2003 plus various chassis, bodies and accessories to model the complete vehicle of your choice.

Our website is currently being upgraded. During this process, there are likely to be some teething issues. If you have any issues browsing our range or ordering, please get in touch by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will try and help.

Our large and diverse range of 4mm / OO / 1:76 scale model trucks uses a modular building system which makes assembly as simple as possible, requiring a minimum number of components. All of the cabs consist of two parts: complete cab shell and interior, plus steering wheel and appropriate style fuel tank for the cab type. Chassis are also two parts: chassis rails and rear mudguards, plus underside transmission, including axle beams and dif. to hold the axles in place. A range of white metal wheels is available to suit all cab types.

The range currently includes over 200 cabs and vans from 1932 onwards, 15 chassis to suit all applications, a diverse range of bodies, trailers and unsheeted loads, as well as 30 wheel profiles and a selection of accessories. We have 15 modelling information sheets to help transport modellers add further fine detailing, much of which is included in the illustrations provided and which transforms a model into an authentic replica of the real thing.

For more information and greater details about the range, we can send you hard copy for you to read at your leisure. Please send a DL or A5 size SAE to:

About Us

Road Transport Images was developed by Frank Waller from Seasalter in Kent as an extension of a hobby he started in the late nineties, purely for nostalgic reasons, to recreate lorries he had driven and / or operated, or ones he could recall from the "good old days". Frank retired in 2002 after a lifetime in transport and distribution, starting as a driver's mate and driver, retiring as a national operations manager.

Frank passed away in 2018 and the business subsequently passed to its current owners; Graeme and Lorraine McQuaker who are based in Ayrshire in West Central Scotland.

An increasing range of bodywork is available, plus a selection of loads to replicate a lorry "earning it's keep".

All cabs and components can be built as a complete vehicle, or you can just buy individual items, such as cabs, bodies, wheels etc. to convert or improve EFE, Trackside and other kits you may have bought previously. An increasing range of water slide transfers and registration numbers (with an option to have fifty sets made to your own requirements) are also available for super detailing. The objective is to take the masochism out of modelling.

Half a dozen components and you have a rolling chassis/cab. We have made the price list as easy to follow as possible. First listed is the range of cabs with cab prices. The next column to the right indicates the chassis(s) that will fit each particular cab; the third column is the wheel set to suit the vehicle type. The prices for chassis and wheels are priced under the appropriate headings.

Bodywork is also available, mostly one piece, ready for painting. Against each body type is shown the price and the chassis it will fit. All images give the cab code for easy recognition, with many showing chassis, body and wheel codes.

We attend a number of model and transport exhibitions throughout the year, with advance notice being published on the website and sent to customers on the email list. Our show stand has examples of all current items on display with stock available for sale and numerous fully assembled and painted models on display.

We'd be pleased to meet you to explain our range further. We hope this has further fired your interest and look forward to receiving your orders.

Graeme and Lorraine McQuaker
